THE annual Remem-brance Day Service held last Sunday morning at St Peter's Church was well attended.

Members of the Powick & Callow End branch of the Royal British Legion marched from the Red Lion Inn to the church, led by standard bearer John Mason, escorted by Brian Charles and Ray Henley. Members of the 7th Worcester Scouts, Cubs and Beavers and members of the 1st Powick Brownies and their leaders were in attendance. The Legion standard was carried into church followed by the Scout's standard carried by Alex Poole, escorted by Michael Butler and Ian Griffiths; the Cub's standard carried by Alex Hall escorted by Sam Powell and Ross Fraser; the Brownie's standard carried by Katie-Jayne Woolstenhume escorted by Lowri James and Jasmine Page. Poppy wreaths on behalf of the Legion members and associate members were laid by George Gibson and Trevor Barry. Following the Last Post, the words of the Homage were spoken by Bill Haywood and after the two minutes' silence the Khomia prayer was spoken by David Brickell and as the Reveille was sounded the British Legion Standard was placed on the alter by the vicar, the Rev David Nichol. During the service bible readings were given by Bill Haywood and Trevor Barry, and the choir sang The Lord's Prayer, followed by intercessions led by Lyn Snook. Members of the RBL and 7th Worcester Scouts took the collection and the service ended with the National Anthem.

On Thursday, November 23 a coffee morning in aid of the Children's Society will be held at 78 Malvern Road, Powick (the home of Marion Lewis), from 10am until noon. There will be a cake stall, bring and buy, raffle and refreshments. All proceeds will help disadvantaged children through the Children's Society.
