IT was inevitable that flooding in Straight Lane in the village of Corse would be the first on the agenda of Corse Parish Council's bi-monthly meeting, as it has been over the last 40 years when there have been floods.

This despite all the efforts of succeeding councils, money seems to be the key factor. During discussion, the council were agreed that piping the brook would be the most permanent (and the most costly) but the clerk, Norman Davis, is to continue his efforts and will now write to Diana Morgan MP and other bodies including environmental. The clerk, on behalf of the council had already apologised to those affected by the floods.

Councillor Pat Lewis, chairman, reported that the repairs and decoration had been completed on the bus shelter. The lay-by near the Church Lane junction is to be grassed and a lay-by made opposite the bakery. It was hoped the telephone kiosk can be moved to the new lay-by as vehicles cause a hazard when parked at the present site.

The parish council has agreed for the clerk to apply for triennial status.

Street lighting was discussed and the council are to keep it under review. The Coal Charity in the village is to continue.
