A SHORT Service of Remembrance was held at Bushley's War Memorial after the 8am Holy Communion on Sunday.
Poppy wreathes were laid by representatives of various organisations within the village and the names of those who served in two world wars were read out by the vicar, the Rev Chris Moss. Two minutes' silence was observed by those in attendance.
Although Bushley is not as badly affected as some other villages on the Severn, the floods do make life hard for some of our residents. One cottage was flooded and the owners had to evacuate, fortunately they were offered accommodation locally. The School Lane was impassable and residents at Moss Green had to walk across the fields. Other residents had water close and had sandbags at the ready including the nursing home at the Oxhey. Levels did not reach the record 1947 floods, but it came the closest that many locals can remember.
