THE Remembrance Service at Birtsmorton was very well attended.

The opening service including the two minutes silence was held in front of the War Memorial in the churchyard and concluded with a laying of a poppy wreath by Mr E Hill.

The remainder of the service with hymns was the held inside the church led by the Rector, Dr Arthur Cunningham. The organist was Mr Roger Turner.

As a result of our offertory, a cheque for £156 has been forwarded to the Poppy Appeal Fund.

At this point, I would like to pay a personal tribute to Mr and Mrs E Hill (Ted and June), who have for many years been responsible for the distribution of poppies in our area, including Castlemorton and Hollybush. Ted is also responsible for placing a small cross each year on every grave and War Memorial in various churchyards of past members of the British Legion and ex-servicemen (now at rest). This is done in a very quiet and unassuming way. Thank you so much Ted.
