THE traffic chaos experienced in recent times could have been alleviated by two simple actions.

First, the continuation of the Worcester bypass to its logical conclusion at the northern ring road. This was only stopped by a few vociferous, selfish nimbys who decided that they didn't want a by-pass anywhere near them.

They could get into and out of Worcester without it, therefore why should the rest of us need it?

The other action was lack of foresight on behalf of the highways department, either nationally or locally when it was decided that Worcester would have, to the best of my knowledge the only two way-non dual carriageway by-pass around a city in the UK.

Perhaps the money spent on the Eastern by-pass could have been used to solve the problem.

Of course, if you work at County Hall, you have a choice of two dual carriageways on which to go to work. Still responsibilities have their privileges, it is said.

Instant relief could also have been achieved by running a train shuttle service between Malvern & Worcester during the rush hour.

BOB DAVIDSON, Malvern.

6 ON Sunday, October 29, my grandson was taken ill and my husband and I had to rush to A&E at Ronkswood Hospital.

We would like to thank all the staff who assisted in our grandson's recovery. They all behaved very professionally.
