Dudley Kingswinford 17 pts, Pershore IV 13

WITH many games being called off due to pitches being unfit for play Pershore travelled to Dudley happy to be getting sport.

The weather threatened to spoil conditions but only short bouts of rain failed to disrupt a very open game that saw both sides make mistakes.

Pershore opened in a positive manner and the home side were made to work extremely hard to contain the visitors' continual pressure.

Acting captain Andy Brookes was the pick of the Pershore side with his tireless efforts and indeed he was the player who, following a slick passing move, was able to ground the ball for the opening score.

Dudley had the larger pack but, with typical strength of character, the difference was only occasionally allowed to be evident.

Ian Ansell, Brain Avery and Steve Eades were always in the thick of the action and it was the latter who, taking a brilliant line-out ball, was able to hang on in the following drive to ground the ball.

The second half saw the home side come back into the game and slowly overtake the tiring visitors to take an advantage that, despite a Barry Connally penalty, the visitors were unable to counter.
