OAKENSHAW ace Enzo Mucci is relishing the prospect of lining up alongside superbikes ace Karl Fogarty.

The four times world champion has been testing with Mucci's JS Motorsport team and has been offered the lead drive in next season's British Touring Car Championship.

And Mucci says he has no problem playing second fiddle to the high-profile star who retired from a sport he dominated earlier this year after serious arm injuries.

Having Karl on board would be wonderful from a promotional and sponsorship point of view, said Mucci, who was offered his first touring cars drive by JSM after a year in the wilderness.

He's a down-to-earth guy and we get on fine.

If he hogs the limelight it will take the pressure off me.

JSM is a very close team with no time for prima donnas so there is no question of any destructive rivalry.

Fogarty threw the Alfa 156 off the track four times in his first testing session at Donnington last week but recovered to beat the times set by Class B driver Danny Wright.

While attempting to better an improved time set by Wright the fly wheel went but Fogarty tried out a road-going version of the new Alfa 147 which the team will introduce next season.

Fogarty, who would be expected to draw thousands of extra fans to the championship, tests again at Donnington tomorrow (Friday).

But Enzo said it could be weeks before the biking legend made a decision.

I would not completely rule out a change, Fogarty told The Times on Wednesday.

I want to do a few more tests over the winter and then make a decision.

Mucci contests the second round of the AutoItalia winter series at Brands Hatch on Sunday after being forced out of the opening round at Snetterton with engine trouble.
