GARDENING CLUB: The AGM was held at the Memorial Hall on October 25. Mr Colin Hill, chairman, opened the meeting and welcomed those present. He then reported on the club's progress for the last year and had, once again, been very pleased with both the support of members and the committee, who had gone to making it yet another successful year. With formalities over, Mr Colin Hill introduced Mr Freddie Potter, president, who gave a very lively talk, together with vivid slides on his recent visit to Burma, South East Asia. All was absorbed by the audience, even the slides of the Buddhist Novice Monks with their begging bowls seemed to amuse them. Afterwards, Mr Hill thanked Mr Freddie Potter for a very interesting talk. The competition for 'The Last Rose of Summer', was won by Mr Tony Smith, with Mrs Iris Smith and Mrs June Cowan, coming second and third. The social evening will be held next Wednesday and the competition will be 'A Colourful Collection from your Garden'.
