REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY: The Sedgeberrow branch of the Royal British Legion held their annual Remembrance Sunday Service at Sedgeberrow where the service was taken by the branch chaplain Rev C J Johnston-Hubbold and the Address given by Rev Julian Bomyer. The lesson was read by David Walmesley-Cotham and the organist was David Williams. The service continued at the War Memorial where the names of the fallen from the villages of Sedgeberrow, Aston Somerville and Hinton-on-the-Green were read by the chaplain and wreaths were laid by Bob Carter (branch vice president) and Pauline Holder (Women's section president). The Legion Exhortation and the Kohima Epitaph were given by branch chairman, Mervyn Kearsey, and the Last Post and Reveille were played by Helen Lane of the Upton Town Band. Standards were carried by branch Standard Bearer Fred Williams and the Women's section Standard Bearer Emma Kearsey. During an earlier morning service the village wreath was laid by Maureen Pratt, the parish council chairperson.
BRITISH LEGION WOMENS SECTION: Held their AGM in the village hall on November 1. The president thanked all officers and members. The chairman gave her address and said she had enjoyed her first year in office, and thanked everyone for their support, and special thank you to Teresa Holder for poppy organising and organising bingo's, and to Emma Kearsey on her success on winning Standard Bearers competition, and wished her success for future events. Secretary gave her report on branch activities and also thanked Teresa and congratulated Emma. The evening ended with a quiz, won by Sally Andrews and second Leonora Smith. Hostesses were S W Westmacott, S Andrews, S Walmsley Cotham.
