North Cotswolds Guides: North Cotswold Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Guiders helped to plant a rare tree at Batsford Arboretum near Moreton in Marsh. The tree should have been planted as part of the Millennium Camp held at West Park in August, but it was not possible because of the time of year. The tree planting ceremony was held on November 4 and was a great success with many Guiding members reading poems, singing songs and saying prayers. It was followed by a Camp Reunion, where people saw once again, the friends they had made in August.

The Arboretum donated the tree, a Toona Sinensis, and was chosen by Arboretum manager Malcolm Machlachlan. However, a collection was made by all Guiding Units in the North Cotswolds, and a cheque for £115 was presented to Mr Machlachlan by Carol Redmond, North Cotswold Division Commissioner. Mrs Redmond said: "The Arboretum is at the centre of the North Cotswolds and was selected for the camp and planting. We hope the tree will be enjoyed for many years to come by those in Guiding and the general public." If you are interested in being a part of Guiding in the North Cotswolds in any way, please contact Carol Redmond on 01242 820424.
