CHRISTMAS SALE: On Saturday, at the WI Hall in Moreton, the WI Drama group present a Christmas sale starting at 10 am. Stalls include cakes, books, bric a brac and gifts. Refreshments available. Proceeds to the WI Hall refurbishment fund.

HUNDRED CLUB VACANCIES: The Friends of the North Cotswold Voluntary Help Centre in Moreton are starting a 100 club to support the Centre. There are still some vacancies and as it is planned to start in January, new members are welcome. Please contact Jill or Norma on 01608-651115.

LETTERS: A former teacher at Chipping Campden Grammar School was speaker at Moreton Local History Society's November meeting attended by 60 members in the WI Hall. James Turtle, who lived at Draycott for five years while teaching at Campden, is now education officer of the Gloucestershire Records Office and his subject was letters. diaries and memoirs. They ranged from the 17th century to the Second World War and included love letters, military orders and memories of childhood. He was thanked by chairman Guy Stapleton. Details were announced of the annual Christmas party to be held at the Swan Inn on December 6.

FLOWER CLUB: At the meeting held at Broadwell Village Hall on October 26, visitors and members were given a demonstration entitled 'Natures Gifts' by Gloria Davies. Her six arrangements had the basis of twisted ornamental tree branches and driftwood. Gloria gave the names of flowers and foliage in Welsh and English. She finished her demonstration (much to the delight of the audience) by singing a love song in the Welsh language. The applause and vote of thanks concluded a lovely evening. The next meeting on November 23 at Broadwell Village Hall will be at 7.30pm. This is a special Christmas meeting and the demonstrator will be the very talented Andrew Grisewood,

an arranger who is in great demand nationally. His title is 'The Miracle of Christmas'. Admission on this occasion is by ticket only. These can be obtained from Jane Ingles, telephone 01608 650349, members free, visitors £5. Come along early to enjoy a hot drink and mince pie.

INTEREST AND LEISURE CLUB: Chairman Mr Ben Jeffrey opened the meeting held on November 8 with the presentation of two cheques £400 each (money raised by the club), one to Anne Ansell Public Relations Officer for County Air Ambulance Service, who thanked members and said that they depended totally on voluntary contributions as they had no Government assistance. The second to the League of Friends Moreton Hospital accepted by Mr Derek Glaisyer and Mrs Maggie Arnold the new Matron. To raise money this year for Moreton Christmas lights a quiz was held. Club competitors were Mr Ted Middleton, Mrs Mary Graham and Mr and Mrs Cecil Tarplett they came ninth out of a large number of entrants. The AGM followed with a report on holidays and outings by Mrs Barbara Smith. The treasurer's income and expenditure account for 2000 and the secretary's resume of activities for the year. AGM minutes for 1999 were read. Mrs Mavis McLoughlin presented an interesting programme for 2001. Ben Jeffrey was re-elected as chairman for 2001. All committee members were returned except Mr Ted Middleton who was retiring and was presented with a gift token in appreciation of his tremendous work for the club. Three new members joined the committee Mrs Mary Graham and Jean and Bryan Baldwin and were warmly welcomed. Ben Jeffrey praised his committee for their efforts in 2000 and thanked all club members for their support. The meeting closed with tea and biscuits.
