AUTUMN CRAFT FAIR: The annual Craft Fair held at the village hall on November 4 was organised by Emma Jayne Colling, of Eckington, and was an ideal pre-shopping venue for both local people and visitors. Stalls of hand painted, glassware, village artists work, woodwork, Emma Jaynes Giftware, ribbon roses, hand made cards, and other crafts, made a colourful display.

Sandwiches and drinks were organised by hostesses, Mrs D Hickmott, Mrs C Norton, Mrs K Aldis, Mrs A Smith, Mrs B Cullwick and Mrs D Singleton. Raffles were held and the day raised a profit of £182.55 for the village hall funds. Appreciation was accorded to stall holders, helpers and to Miss E J Colling, for organising the event.

MILLENNIUM MEMORIES OF ECKINGTON: On November 7 at the village hall, and with a full audience the Eckington Millennium Committee presented a video show, Mr Tony Smith welcomed all. A committee formed in 1998 planned a millennium memory for 2000. The planners, included, the Rev P Thomas, Mrs Joan Green and many other interested villagers. The idea of a special Eckington millennium village video was raised, to cover May 1999 to June 2000.

The photography and video shots were in the experienced hands of Mr Derek Russell, Mr Geoffrey Spiers and Mr Tony Smith. Mr D Russell, assembled the photographic scenes of a volume of events that occurred, and he also narrated, as events were shown. Two TV's were set up, and electronics in the hall, by the Bredon TV Company.

Views of Bredon Hill, the river Avon, and the many cottages, church, inns and so many village features were captured on film, starting with the church flower festival 1999, then progressed through the seasons, until, the start of the year 2000, which was celebrated by all. The children featured greatly, with their school and church activities, and their planting of their own millennium wood on Bredon Hill. The ladies of the WI provided wine and refreshments. Orders for the videos were taken. The evening was voted a success and appreciation was accorded to the film makers, and to all concerned with the show. Profits from the evening will be donated to the new recreation centre funds.

WHIST DRIVE: The whist drive held at the village hall on November 9 was well attended and was organised by Mrs B Hodges, to raise further funds for the County Air Ambulance Service. Mr John Chester was MC, Mrs C Bromfield, drawmaster.

Whist, raffle and mystery prizewinners were, Mrs O Wells, Mr D Crook, Mrs J Crowley, Mr T Jeynes, Mrs E Warner, Mr J Chester, Mrs N Green, Mr P Macarthy, Mrs E Edwards, Mrs D Hickmott, Mrs G Crook, Mr E Willis, Mrs C Evans, Mrs J Bunn, Mrs R Sowerbutts, Mrs J Rose, Mr J Whitehouse, Mrs E Hawkes, Mrs P Jeynes, Mr F Jeffreys, Mrs T Stamp, Mrs B Bromfield, and Mr C Griffin. Refreshments were organised by the lady whist players.
