QUEENSLAND paceman Andy Bichel, signed by Worcestershire to play at New Road next season, is a surprise choice in Australia's 13-man squad for next week's first Test against the West Indies in Brisbane.
The squad also includes veteran Mark Waugh and opener Matthew Hayden who both secured their places with centuries in their last domestic matches.
Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie are expected to lead the bowling attack while the 12th man duties will most likely fall to Colin Miller or spinner Stuart MacGill.
Full squad: Steve Waugh, Gilchrist, Slater, Hayden, Langer, Mark Waugh, Ponting, Lee, Gillespie, MacGill, McGrath, Miller and Bichel.
