100 years ago - November 17, 1900
STRATFORD: Mayoral Sunday - the mayor and corporation paid a state visit to Holy Trinity Church on Sunday morning last, accompanied by the volunteers, the fire brigade and the town band. The Mayor was accompanied by the High Steward and others. The vicar and choir met the procession at the western entrance and led the way down the nave, the National Anthem the while being played on the organ.
75 Years ago - November 14, 1925
REMEMBRANCE: Armistice Anniversary. Another Armistice has come and gone and again. The fact has been borne out that although it is seven years since the 'cease fire' was sounded, the greater part of the population of the Empire remember those who sacrificed so much during the epoch making years from 1914 to 1918.
50 years ago - November 18, 1950
ARTS COUNCIL GRANT: The Arts Council of Great Britain has made a grant of £2,000 towards the preservation of Hall's Croft which is to be developed as a Shakespeare Centre and has guaranteed £2,000 against loss on the of Festival of Britain events at Stratford next year.
25 years ago - November 20, 1975
STRATFORD: Governors of the King Edward VI Grammar School at Stratford will be looking at plans for going independent with fresh urgency now that the government is believed to be cracking down on the so called "11-plus rebels".
