SIX-hitters Stuart Bingham and Shaun Murphy produced sensational potting displays to set up a potentially explosive best of 17-frame final in the Benson and Hedges Snooker Championship at Malvern today.

Bingham trounced past winner Andy Hicks in the semi-finals of the £35,000 event making a century break and five other half-centuries in his 6-2 win.

Teenager Murphy hammered Sussex professional Mark Davis 6-1 with runs of 104, 54, 53, 123 and 60.

Bingham is hot favourite for the £5,000 first prize plus an opportunity to play in the Benson and Hedges Masters at Wembley next year. However, 18-year-old Murphy should not be underestimated after winning seven matches over the last nine days.

"Shaun is a great player and I know what he's capable of because I've watched a few of his games this week," said world number 43 Bingham from Basildon.

"I will have my work cut out but if I play like I did against Andy I will win the title. I struggled at the start of this season and I came here feeling a bit low. But now my form has come back."
