Perrywood 2, Littleton 4

LITTLETON avenged their defeat on the opening day of the season with a victory of 4-2 when visiting Perrywood.

On a new pitch with lush grass, the tendency early on was to under hit the ball, but both sides adapted well to produce an entertaining game.

Perrywood struck first after five minutes. Ian Townsend broke down the right and his centre to the far post was headed in by Jon Fowles.

Littleton then dominated for 20 minutes and scored twice.

Firstly a good move saw Tim Davies pass to Bobby Deacon who found Chris Wright on the left, from his cross Deacon headed in off the underside of the bar.

A ball over the top from Jamie Pennington saw Davies turn back the years as he ran between two defenders to lob over the keeper.

However, Perrywood hit back and on the half hour drew level, again through Fowles who scored from close range.

On the stroke of half time a 30 yard drive from Perrywood's Matty Baldwin was touched onto the bar by Laurie Pennington in Littleton's goal.

Littleton looked the more likely to score at the start of the second half and went close when Darren Reeves had a shot blocked.

Then a Matthew Edwards centre was headed in by Wright but the goal was disallowed.

On the hour Littleton again took the lead. A left wing cross from Davies was dropped by the keeper and Wright was on hand to score.

Five minutes later Littleton were awarded a penalty which looked a very harsh decision, however Reeves shot was saved.

As Perrywood pushed men forward, Littleton's defence held firm. With the back four of Pennington, Major, Buttle and Edwards dealing capably with their attacks.

This of course meant that Perrywood left gaps at the back and Littleton sealed their win with a good shot from the edge of the box by Reeves in the 84th minute.
