I HAVE just read the article in Journal about how memories flowed at the open day of the Walker Hall. I could not visit as I have been ill but my first memory of the hall goes back to January 23, 1929. I was, at eight years, enrolled as a Brownie, by Miss N H Lowe who was the district captain of the 5th Evesham All Saints and St Lawrence of Brownie Pack. I still have my enrolment card, also Christmas card from Brown and Tawny Owls, dated 1930. I also remember going to Guides after becoming 11 years old. Miss Large, who was the infants head teacher at the Merstow Green School, used to hold a dancing class at 4.15pm on Monday after school, it used to cost 2d (old money) a lesson. I have numerous memories of the Walker Hall far too many for me to write about. I am really happy that the Hall has not been allowed to just disappear, like so many parts of what was a beautiful town.
