ON Sunday we remembered the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Fewer veterans than last year, resplendent and proud, campaign medals on their chests, looked on a parade line split by a parked car. When the parade marched down Bridge Street there were vans and hoists. The town was putting up its Christmas lights!
Please, next year, whoever has responsibility for planning this work, remember for our tomorrows they gave their todays, and will apply a little more consideration for this act of remembrance.
N P WORKMAN, New Road, Evesham.
Evesham town clerk, Frank Green said: "It was unfortunate that the contractors were in Bridge Street on the day putting the lights up. They were asked to put them up by November 23 - we did not know they were going to choose Remembrance Sunday."
