A LATE goal from Andy Maw salvaged some pride and a share in the points for Kidderminster Boundary Hockey Club 1sts as they drew 2-2 at Rugby.

Rugby, newly promoted to the DTZ League, took the lead early on but Adam Robson put his team back on level terms before half-time.

However, the home side went ahead again in the second half, capitalising on a defensive error, and would have had all the points but for Maw's late equaliser.

This was a disappointing, lacklustre performance which Kidderminster will hope to improve upon when they face Nuneaton at home next week.

A good all-round performance by Kidderminster in the DTZ League was rewarded with a comfortable win.

Once Gary Burkes put his team ahead from a penalty corner, they never looked back.

Burkes capped a good individual performance with another penalty corner conversion.

David Mills and Craig Siwicki were the other scorers.

Warwick 3rds 6 Kidderminster 3rds 1

A weakened Kidderminster side were no match for a lively young Warwick side who were really up for the game.

Kidderminster tried to fight back but left themselves exposed at the back and went even further behind.

Neil Jarvie finally managed to get one back but it was too late for a recovery and Warwick underlined their dominance by netting a sixth goal.

Kidderminster 4ths 3 Kidderminster 5ths 0

The fifths were top of their DTZ League division before the start on goal difference with the fourths lying in second.

And the leaders hit a purple patch early in the game but failed to score, allowing their opponents to gain the initiative.

The fifths caught them twice on the break through Paul Rhodes and Kevin Gayle got the third goal.

Bad news for the fourths is that captain, Chris Longmore, will have to miss at least one match with a damaged elbow after a challenge with opposing skipper, Eddie Piechowicz.
