A HAT-TRICK from Phil Lashford gave Stourport their second English Hockey League Division One win of the season, beating Indian Gymkhana 3-2 at home.

They are sixth in the table after stepping up their form and getting over a difficult start.

Lashford opened the scoring at the weekend from a penalty corner in the 21st minute and there was no further first-half score.

Immediately after the re-start, Lashford added his second but Gymkhana reduced the deficit two minutes later with a Tejinder Hanspal penalty corner.

Hanspal levelled the scores nine minutes later but Lashford hit the decider in the 60th minute.

Stourport 3rds 7 Northampton Saints 2

Ben Moulam scored a hat-trick as the thirds recorded a comfortable victory with Andy Packnell, Mark McKinnon, John Lee and Steve Ellis also finding the net.

Ellis missed four of the five goal chances he had, while Robin Conway was man-of-the-match for his ball skills and visionary passing.

Stourport 4ths 1 Beeston 1

A second-half fight-back gave Stourport a share of the points with the equaliser from Steve Taylor and some late saves by Ian Evans.

The home side pushed forward after falling behind and were rewarded with a penalty flick 10 minutes from time, converted by their captain.

Kings Heath 2 Stourport Ladies 2nds 1

The Ladies went home without any points despite dominating their Worcestershire First Division match at Kings Heath.

They were in charge for the opening 15 minutes but missed several chances and the home side took the lead on 20 minutes.

After the interval, Stourport camped in the Kings' half and found an opening when Kerry Venskus pushed out a short-corner which was stopped and crisply hit home by Karen Roberts.

However, again Stourport's failure to take their opportunities allowed the home side to break away in the 70th minute to steal the points.

Stourport Ladies 3rds 1 Malvern 4

The thirds took the lead in Worcestershire Division Two but allowed their visitors to draw level and then fell to three second-half goals.

Keeper Katie Walker kept Malvern out early on before Stourport took the lead against the run of play when Kerry Walker latched onto a pass from centre-forward Lucy Gay.

Stourport lost Alison Austin through injury in the second half and the resulting disorganisation cost them the game despite superb saves from Walker.

U-12s Tournament

Stourport competed at Moseley High School, achieving third place with goals scored by Sarah Cavendish (2), Adam Leeke and Mitchell Taylor.

Midfielder Victoria Whitehouse and keeper Isobel Rosie impressed, while the defence of Alex Brookes, Michelle Jenks and Johnathon Reynolds only let in two goals in five games played.
