MURDER victim Rosemary Corcoran was spotted leaving a Birmingham nightclub less than four hours before her battered body was found.

The 25-year-old brunette was bludgeoned to death and then dumped in an isolated lane in Rashwood, near Droitwich, on Sunday.

Her naked body was found by a man walking his dog.

Police said the victim had been spotted outside the Monte Carlo club, on Handsworth's Soho Road, at 4.40am the same day.

Detectives today stepped up their search for witnesses.

"The location of her last sighting has been sealed off to enable a detailed forensic examination to be carried out," said Det Supt Mel Shore, who is leading the hunt for the killer.

"We're appealing for anyone who may have seen her or who was with her on that night to contact us."

Miss Corcoran, of Castle Vale, Birmingham, is described as 5ft 3in tall, with dark, shoulder-length straight hair and blue-green eyes.

Her ears were pierced in two places, but no jewellery was found. She was thought to be wearing a white strappy vest top and black slip-on shoes with a two-inch heel on the night she was killed.

Police arrested a man in connection with her murder on Tuesday night.

He was still being questioned at a police station in the force area.

Detectives were today given an extra 36 hours to quiz the man, who has been named as Phillip Smith, aged 35, and from Birmingham.
