A TEENAGE girl flew into such a rage when she saw her friend being arrested she hurled abuse at police, and lashed out when taken away in a squad car, Worcester magistrates heard.

The 15-year-old was arrested following the incident in Worcester, during the summer, when she became angry after seeing the police take away her pint-sized 14-year-old friend dubbed "the wildcat" at an earlier court hearing.

John Davies, prosecuting, told magistrates the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, became embroiled in an incident in Wheelwright Close, Blackpole, on Sunday, August 13 this year.

The girl admitted threatening behaviour towards the police officer, two breaches of a restraining order, and witness intimidation.

"The defendant and others were at the scene when the police were arresting another girl," said Mr Davies. He said she called the officer "pig" and demanded he let her friend go.

"They were telling her to break away," he said.

The youngster was arrested after she continued swearing and encouraging her friend to resist the officers.

"In the police car she tried to kick the car and break the window," said Mr Davies. "At the police station she remained abusive."

He said the girl breached a restraining order a week later, on Thursday, August 17, when she and other girls surrounded a chip shop where they intimidated a witness, who was dropping her sister at work.

"Come on out of the car if you think you're hard enough," Mr Davies said she shouted to the girl.

There were also two similar incidents where she approached the same family.

Her solicitor, Andrew Childs, requested pre-sentence reports to be prepared and magistrates adjourned the case until Wednesday, December 13.

The youngster's friend is currently serving a six-month sentence at a detention centre after hitting a policeman and vandalising a police car during the Sunday, August 13, incident. She was sentenced for 15 other incidents.
