EAGER bookworms turned the pages to raise cash to create a new library at their school.
The library at Catshill First School, in Gibb Lane, is currently in the hall but will eventually be put in a mobile classroom.
A day-long readathon was held during which at least one of the classes could be found reading in the hall at all times.
The pupils even gave up their lunch and play breaks to carry on reading to raise cash to stock the new library with chairs, paint and new books.
Deputy headteacher Cecilia O'Toole said: "Children worked very hard and were enthusiastic.
"It gave them a chance to sit and read for sustained periods of time and share books with their friends.
"They had a lovely time as well as raising money for the school."
