Employees of the Redditch Indicator and their friends held a dinner and concert at The Red Lion in Alvechurch on Friday of last week.
Mr PT Austin, managing director of the company, paid tribute to Mr T Onions and all who had helped arrange the evening and Mr WA Alderton who had undertaken the chairmanship.
He congratulated Mr W Bakewell, whose 21st birthday it was that evening. Not only was it on his birthday but on completing a very worthy apprenticeship that was made more worthy because he had his apprenticeship broken by National Service.
To mark the occasion, Mr Bakewell was presented with a key by Miss C Proudley. Mr LD Austin then welcomed the ladies.
A social evening then followed with Mr Eddie Crumpton acting as compere. Artistes included Maurice Weston (comedian), Margaret Weston (soprano) and Mr F Bullock, who was also the compere.
