Benjamin Styler, a farmer from Crabbs Cross, was charged with being drunk and disorderly at Crabbs Cross on November 3.
Evidence was given by police constables Symonds and Timms as to the defendant's extreme drunken condition at the above place and time.
The defendant adamantly denied that he was drunk as the two police officer claimed and called John Bunegar and Mary Ann Tippings, both of whom expressed the opinion that the defendant was perfectly sober.
Mr Styler was fined 10s and 5s 6d costs and Mr Bunegar and Miss Tipping were fined 1s.
