A DELAYED start due to a waterlogged astro turf made the atmosphere even more tense as Bromsgrove continued their mission to secure league promotion.
There was always the possibility that the match would be abandoned at any time with the scoreline at that time standing, so Bromsgrove were always mindful of the need for early domination.
Liz Field did not disappoint from a text book attack via midfielders Becky Southwell and Ang Gibson, which Field slipped home.
A further attack gave way to a concise penalty corner injected by Southwell, struck by Taylor and converted by Claire Brookes.
A feisty and determined Brookes engineered a silky, solo effort to add a third
and bemuse Bourn-ville's defence.
However a series of controversial decisions allowed Bournville to capitalise on the deficit and inspire a team that was previously posing no real threat.
Debut appearances from Gail Meades at the back and Louise Phillips greatly assisted Bromsgrove in the second half with excellent tackles and 110 per cent commitment.
Ang Gibson also proved her worth to the team as she nimbly saved a Bourneville strike on the line and continued to feed the ball to Christine Ashworth.Vice Captain June Taylor continued to channel the ball to the Bromsgrove attack throughout the final moments of the game.
