MALVERN Town scored an emphatic 4-0 victory at home to Wellington last night and in doing so mantained a Banks's Brewery League run that has now seen them pick up 20 points from their last nine outings.

In form striker Andy Shepherd was the Town hero who bagged a hat trick and has now found the net eight times in his last five starts.

But in truth it was a convincing team performance that never really left the result in doubt.

Pushing forward from the first whistle, the visitors had constant problems in dealing with the pace of Chris Thomas and Raj Sharma on the flanks and a first goal was not long in coming when Thomas and Steve Walker, who gave another industrious display in the heart of the Town midfield, combined to set up Nick Clayton to strike his first goal of the season in the 15th minute.

This looked as if it might open the floodgates as Malvern streamed forward, but both Sharma and Thomas failed to hit the target from good positions and, incredibly, Brooks and Slade missed from virtual goal line positions. Wellington caused a couple of scares before rampant Malvern went on to seal a convincing victory.

Malvern: Sanders, Higgins (Maidment), Hayes, Damore, Clayton, Sharma, Brooks, Walker, Thomas (Phillpotts), Slade (Judge), Shepherd.
