Market Drayton 0 Redditch 1

Redditch fielded a much-changed side from the one which visited Market Drayton less than a week earlier, with Anthony Brooks in midfield.

Market Drayton were on the back foot immediately, but packed the defence and made it hard for Redditch to penetrate.

With several short corners saved by the keeper it looked as if Redditch would be frustrated.

Redditch switched the play from left to right after the break cutting through Market Drayton's defence at will with Tom Hiles and Matt Davies lively upfront.

Rob Allen and captain John Kimbles marshalled the midfield with Brookes and Chris Thomas making the plays to ensure Redditch controlled the game.

A Kimbles effort was deflected wide and further pressure from Redditch won a free hit outside the D.

Kimbles dummied the ball to player manager Allen who guided the ball through a packed defence and past the unsighted keeper.

The visitors pushed forward again looking to seal the match leaving a large gap in defence neither Grenville Rose or keeper Al Shute could fill and it was only a courageous tackle from Dudley that denied the hosts by conceding a penalty stroke.

The flick was taken and superbly saved by Shute to keep Redditch in front.
