A SUBWAY in Droitwich Spa could be closed because of complaints from residents.
Families have moaned about the condition of the walkway linking Camp Furlong with Wensleydale.
Droitwich Spa Town Council leader Cllr Pam Davey (Con, Droit.South) told the authority's planning committee at a meeting on Monday that residents claim the elderly and disabled do not use the underpass because of the steep access. She said householders want it blocked off because it is undesirable.
Cllr Davey proposed the council contact the Highways Partnership which could advertise a proposal to close the subway.
She said: "If people agree it should go then it would be an eyesore out of the way."
Cllr John Cook (Lab, Droit.West) said he partly agreed with Cllr Davey's proposals but only if a safe route could be identified for children and mums to get to schools.
The council agreed to contact the Highways Partnership and ask officers to investigate the possibility of closing the subway.
