OVER recent months there have been various articles on disabled parking and the use of orange/blue badges in the Wyre Forest area.

First of all, I would like to thank the badge holders who think that if they have a disabled badge they can park anywhere.

Many times I have not been able to cross a road in Kidderminster at a drop kerb because a car has blocked my access to cross, and in many instances these have been displaying disabled badges.

The designated places for disabled people to park in Kidderminster can be described as "less than perfect".

The car park in Market Street, which I visited on Saturday, November 4, is not a fun place for the disabled driver or passenger.

The designated places appear to vary in width, making this difficult for anyone using a wheelchair, and many of the "disabled" parking signs have fallen down, giving the impression that the spaces are for anybody.

On the Saturday that I visited, all the disabled places were full, so I had to go up into the multi-storey to park.

Then, after parking, I was less than delighted to find the lifts were out of action.

I then had to make a hazardous journey through the car park where pedestrian access was virtually non-existent.

Of course, I could have left my car at home and travelled to Kidderminster by bus, but how many buses in Kidderminster carry wheelchairs?
