MEMORIES of successive friendly wins were banished as Redditch RFC slumped again in the league ahead of a make-or-break fixture which could decide their Midlands Four West South fate.

Bouyed by wins over Evesham and Warley it was the same old story for the Bromsgrove Road club when there were points at stake.

Redditch surrendered late on at Southam to lose 22-20 and continue to prop up the table as the only pointless side.

And with another friendly against visitors Kidderminster on Saturday (ko 2.15pm) skipper Andy Douglas' thoughts are already turning to the following Saturday when second-from bottom Trinity Guild are the visitors.

Trinity have endured a miserable start, picking up one point from six matches and defeat for Redditch would be unthinkable.

You have to say this is a make-or-break match, said number eight Douglas, who is nursing a calf injury.

We have to win that match and if we don't start putting some points on the board we will have to think about what team to field next season and start bringing players through.

Number eight Marc Rose played his first full match on Saturday since suffering a broken knuckle.

Winger Mark Groom is eligible for the match against Midlands West Three South side Kidderminster and Douglas is hoping to have him registered for the Trinity cruncher.

Blindside flanker Chris Oldfield could be set for a call-up on Saturday and Douglas, whose wife is expecting, was this week set to test his calf in a bid to be fit for the basement battle.

With third-from-bottom Dunlop beating Guild at the weekend Redditch are four points adrift of safety.

Redditch seconds beat Southam 35-5 at home with Dave Bennett taking over as captain after John Coote was promoted to the first team.
