ALTHOUGH the rain was a factor, making playing conditions difficult, Droitwich rose to the occasion with another win to add to their impressive league campaign.

Pickwick took the lead when a shot hit the post only to be picked up by an attacker who scored.

Droitwich returned this with one of their own when right winger Kate Rodgman crossed the ball to left winger Gemma Richards who drilled the ball home.

Droitwich enjoyed good spells of play and even though it was raining, looked sharp and alert.

Attacking down the right side again saw another Rodgman cross find Richards who went round the keeper to score with a reverse stick effort.

The third goal for Spa was initiated by a drive towards Pickwick's defence and centre forward Ange Cornelius turned the defender and stroked the ball into the net.

Pickwick's second goal came from their centre half who scored from the top of the D to make it 3-2 at half time.

Both teams started the second period strongly and Pickwick soon levelled the match.

Spa grabbed the winner when Angie Cornelius drove the ball across the goal which Rodgman picked up.

Her skilful deflection allowed Richards to score a typical left wing goal to seal the result, complete her hat trick and win player of the match.

Captain Claire Darby said: "It was a real team effort. We gained confidence through each other to get the result we wanted. We showed good training skills which proves practice makes perfect!"

The girls will be looking to increase their impressive form when they take on Harborne Seconds at Kings Edwards School at 1pm.
