RAIN hit the league programme hard on Sunday, with all but five games postponed due to the weather.

Bromsgrove Town made the most of this league inactivity with a 4-2 win over New Olympic, in turn moving them to fifth in the second division.

Carl Gray tormented Town's Black Country rivals just as he had last season with two classy first half goals, the first in 49 seconds.

Rampaging Town could have had a hatful as Gray's powerful running from midfield superbly aided by MoM Stuart Eades tore Olympic apart in the first half hour.

Eades stormed through from midfield to crash home Town's second low to the keeper's left and just inside the post. Gray coolly slotted home Town's third and could have claimed the match ball but for a fine save from Wayne Harris. James McLeod drilled home the fourth from the spot after Darren Turk had been upended.

Town took their foot off the pedal after the break allowing Olympic to reply through Nick Hammond and Gareth Meese. However, the game had been won by then, thanks to a scintillating first half display.

Mostyn Rangers hit six past Rubery Redstar, conceding just one as they close the gap on Rubery Social in Division One. Andy Burgess was a hat-trick hero while Andy Pratt added a brace and Ashley Phillips completed the scoring. Nick Robins replied for Redstar.

Barley Mow Reserves had Derek Payne to thank for a 1-0 win over Bromsgrove Labour, in turn taking them top of Division Four.

It was a hard game for both teams played on a boggy pitch which produced a scrappy encounter.

Labour started the strongest, keeping the Barley keeper busy. Barley had some early chances with Derek Payne and Kevin Mould both going close.

The second half was a different affair with Barley enjoying most of the play and they were soon rewarded with a goal.

Dave Webb won the ball in midfield and found man of the match Payne who scored from a tight angle with ten minutes to go.

Barley were then on the back foot but fine defending from Roger Vigurs and Yarnold sealed the points.
