DROITWICH set out to defend their position at the top of the DTZ Seconds League against second placed rivals Yardley.

The first 20 minutes was a game of two halves, with neither team looking set to dominate and both sides enjoying equal attacking and defensive forays.

Eventually Droitwich opened the scoring from a free kick outside Yardley's goal area.

Ten minutes later Yardley equalised with a goal converted from a goalmouth scramble.

Almost instantly Yardley scored again from a short corner just before half time.

The second half saw a few changes to the Droitwich side which helped them apply more pressure on Yardley.

Wayne Bran, Ed Deacon and Dave Hindle, Droitwich's front row, battled hard to convert the equaliser. Eventually it came from Andy Harris who scored from open play in Yardley's attacking area. Nigel Maddock had a good game in defence for Droitwich.
