ON the first morning of the planning inquiry into the huge housing development in Alcester, the Government Inspector, Mr CS Turner, made it quite clear that under current planning regulations the development could be 600 houses.

Mark Foster, of the Alcester Chamber of Trade, is quite right to be concerned about increased traffic problems. The bypass was built to decrease the traffic.

His organisation now wants to build between the edge of the town and the bypass, thus increasing the traffic.
