IF you earn £15,000 a year and drive a car 15,000 miles at 35mpg you pay £1,200 in fuel tax.
If you earn £150,000 a year and drive 15,000 miles in a car that does 35mpg you pay £1,200 in fuel tax.
The reason why fuel duty should be cut has nothing to do with protesting truckers and farmers and it certainly has nothing to do with the environmental policy.
It is because it hurts the poor far more than the rich and is an unfair and regressive tax.
