A WORCESTER man who ran to the scene of his brother's arrest has been sentenced for using threatening behaviour.
Andrew Stanley had to be restrained by an officer as colleagues struggled with Richard Stanley in a volatile situation outside a Dines Green community centre.
The 24-year-old was found guilty in a trial at Worcester Magistrates' Court last month but was cleared of assaulting a police officer in the execution of his duty.
Justices said at the time that there was no evidence to suggest he had assaulted PC Tim Wood.
The defendant, of Tudor Way, Dines Green, denied both offences but was convicted of using threatening behaviour on Friday, April 28.
Paul Whitfield, prosecuting in court yesterday, said Stanley accepted he was angry when the situation broke out.
Andrew Childs, defending, said Stanley told probation officers that he felt angry when he saw the police with his brother.
"He said he ran over to see what they were doing," said Mr Childs. "He did not know why his brother had been arrested. His motivation was not violent."
For using threatening behaviour towards a police officer Stanley was given 40 hours community service. He was ordered to pay £50 court costs.
