DOES the bridge over the Severn at the end of the Southern Link road - Temeside Way - have an official name?
If not, then perhaps it's time it did. Many people still refer to it as the "new" bridge, which is why a recent announcement on local radio had me really confused when it was said that there was a possibility that "the new road bridge might be closed again today".
Did he mean the "old" bridge in New Road, or did he mean the "new" bridge?
The old bridge is "Worcester Bridge", is it not? If the bridge in Temeside Way does have an official name, then I suggest that it be displayed on a sign at each end, as is often done.
If it has not been named, how about naming it "Clerkenleap Bridge", and then let us get used to calling it that. (And, of course, the new bridge over the River Teme needs a name, too!)
DAVID BEACHAM,
Hallow.
