WORCESTER-based Axis is considering the merits of expansion after launching a bid for a Welsh cheese company.
Negotiations have already started between Axis and Aeron Valley Cheese owner Milk Marque.
Axis was formed earlier this year after a Competition Commission probe forced Milk Marque's marketing operation to split three ways.
"This is good news for Axis members," said Axis chairman Roger Evans.
"Aeron Valley is an important part of our plans and, subject to successfully completing the deal, we are well on our way with business development.
"This is part of our overall strategy which is bearing fruit.
"In just six months since we started trading we have also moved our milk price forward.
"We also have proposals for a major round of cost savings from April."
Axis markets milk for more than 3,000 farmers in an area stretching from South Wales to East Anglia.
It supplies all milk used by Aeron Valley to make high quality Welsh Cheddar at its site near Lampeter in West Wales.
