THE countdown to Christmas in Stratford is set to be tinged with a touch of Hollywood as Disney's best loved characters will be rolling into town to help with the big switch on of Stratford's festive light display.

Aladdin, the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast will be giving a hand to mayor Juliet Short as she flicks the switch on November 23.

Also joining in will be Father Christmas, who will be making a flying visit from his North Pole home in his very own helicopter.

The fun, which organiser Mike Simkiss promises to be "something special", moves to the anniversary fountain from its traditional home at the town hall to make room for the additional attractions, which will also include a firework display and fairground rides.

The festivities start at 3.45pm, while the actual switch on takes place at 4.30pm.
