REGARDING the floods in Hylton Road, my son was born in February, 1946. There was a big flood in that year and an even bigger one in 1947.
In 1946, the Evening News ran a story about the water baby of Hylton Road.
A Daily Mirror reporter came down Hylton Road in a punt to our house, and took a photograph of my wife and baby son. She said if she could get them back in time they would be in the paper next day.
My mother's house used to be one of the first to take in water. Most of the houses have been knocked down so it doesn't affect a lot of people now.
