WHAT the latest floods have revealed is the lack of foresight by road planners in the building of the southern/western bypass as a single carriageway.
With the roads through Worcester impassable, the south/west route could not adequately cope with the amount of traffic. The police even considered closing it. This would have caused a compete breakdown of through routes in and around Worcester and district.
Surely now the objectors to the "Missing Link", can see from what has happened in the last few days, that the rest of the by-pass must be completed.
On normal days, it takes 10 minutes to drive to St Peter's from St John's. During the floods it took 45 minutes because all traffic was being diverted on to the bypass.
It also shows what relief could be brought to Worcester's overcrowded through routes if the northern link is ever completed.
