TRAVELLERS returned to winning way in the Lamberts & Wade Malvern Table Tennis League's Division Two with Ken Hipwell leading the way.

He won all three and partnered Martin Snee (2) in the doubles. In fact the doubles was the key match of the night. Ken and Martin beating James Palmer and Pete Harrold 21-19, 19-21, 22-20. For Crackpots James won two, Pete one and Nick Gilbert one.

Nomads and Vulcans contested a very hard fought draw with eight out of the 22 games played decided by two points. Dave Backhurst was the star for Nomads, winning al three singles. Alan Croad played well to win two for Vulcans, whilst Beryl Shammon (1) was unlucky to lose to Dave 22-20, 22-20. Single victories for Ray Holroyd (Vulcans) and Dave Huntley and Geoff Davies (Nomads) meant that everyone went away with at least one victory under their belts and with Ray and Alan winning the doubles a draw was fair.

Police proved too strong for Broadheath with Chris Jones winning all three plus the doubles with Jason Gagen (2). Neville Entwhistle also won two. For Belters there were victories for Roger Bates and Pete Roberts although they will consider themselves unlucky as three games were won narrowly in the final set.

Ray Mollett was unstoppable against Ledbury Exhaust. He won all three singles for Trojans and partnered John Gaskell (2) in the doubles. Adrian Fray also won one for the visitors. Stewart Moss again led the way for Ledbury. He picked up two wins and Neil Gladwin one.

RESULTS: Travellers 6, Crackpots E 4; CSSC Nomads 5, YMCA Vulcans 5; Broadheath Belters 2, Malvern Police B 8; Ledbury Exhaust 3, CSSC Trojans 7.
