THE Malvern Gazette King Pin representative side made a fine start to the new West Midland Front Pin League campaign defeating visiting Gloucester by 13 pins to record a maximum 6 points.

Pete Wilding made an excellent debut, top scoring for the home side with 73 pins including spares of 11, 14 and 15. However Gloucester's captain and anchor man Pete Stone can consider himself unlucky to be on the losing side with a brilliant 83 pins. Pete's individual leg scores were 7, 13, 8, 8, 12, 15, 12, 8.

With a four pin advantage going into the final leg, Malvern produced a fine team effort, in scoring 75 pins, enough to give them victory in a well contested game.

Top Scorers: Pete Wilding 73, Roger Randle 56, Geoff Robinson 55, Kevin Ingram 55, Colin Green 54, Kevin Edmunds 53 and Kevin Monk 52.

Scores: Malvern 256 (2pts), 281 (2pts) Total 537 (6pts). Gloucester 242 (0pts), 277 (0pts), Total 524 (0pts).

Tomorrow (Saturday) Malvern entertain Tewkesbury at the RSRE Club.
