MALVERN Ladies FC travelled to Cam for a league match on Sunday which was played in strong winds and very heavy rain.

CAM BULLDOGS 4, MALVERN LADIES FC 5

MLFC who started playing against the wind found themselves 2-0 behind after 18 minutes when they were struggling to get the ball out of their own half. In the 43rd minute Rachael Crack reduced the deficit with a right foot shot from 18yards but within a minute Cam had restored their two goal lead after a goal mouth scramble.

In the second half with the wind behind them MLFC put the Cam defence under pressure and were rewarded when Honor McClure slotted home from close range.

Two more well taken goals from Rachael Crack put MLFC into the lead for the first time. This lead lasted for only five minutes when the MLFC defence failed to clear a cross from the right, which was left for the Cam striker to tap the ball into the goal

With only seven minutes to go substitute Tess Morris scored from the edge of the area to give MLFC a 5-4 lead.

Cam were then awarded a penalty with only two minutes to play, but the kick was fired wide and MLFC held on for a hard earned victory.

On Sunday, MLGC, who are sponsored by First Floor Flooring, entertain RAF Lyneham in the League Cup preliminary round at Victoria Park, kick off 2.30pm.
