WEST Malvern made the perilous journey to Pershore on Saturday for this Worcester league division One fixture which resulted in the game kick ing off late.

NEW INN PERSHORE 5, WEST MALVERN 2

Forced into making late changes to the side due to injuries and players failing to turn up, the West kicked off 30 minutes late following travel time of one and three quarter hours.

New Inn started the stronger and went in front through Gary Hughes but the West hit back and soon equalised with a fine shot from Graham Maclennon.

This stung New Inn into action and Hughes was on hand to grab number two and then completed his hat-trick before half time when following a goal mouth scramble he stabbed the ball goalwards and it cannoned off Jim McCourtny for 3-1.

In the second half the West found it difficult to get into the game with the home side's midfield dominating the action.

The visitors did pull another goal back through Lee Tracey but New Inn were not to be denied and Hughes scored his fourth of the game before in the fading light John Andrews made it 5-2.

Both side should be congratulated for a good sporting game in difficult conditions.

Tomorrow (Saturday) West Malvern, sponsored by Amey Comax, are at home to Inkberrow Res players to meet at the ground at 1.15pm.
