ONE point each for the teams in this Worcester League Premier Division match at the Worcester YMCA ground last Saturday although Radar should have secured all three well before the final whistle.

CROWN & ANCHOR 2, MALVERN RADAR 2

The home side started brightly with Radar looking very lethargic and their keeper Marcus Henney was by afar the busier and when he brought down Paul Broughton to concede a penalty he was fortunate to get away with just a lecture from the referee. Dave Horan made no mistake from the spot to give the home side the lead.

This woke up the visitors and when they were awarded a free kick some 25 yards out on the corner of the area, up stepped Alistair Veitch who promptly drove the ball into the roof of the net with awesome power.

The remainder of the half was scrappy and it was Radar who should have taken the lead in the early second half exchanges.

Veitch again whipped in a free kick, which evaded everyone except Darren Loader at the back post who somehow managed to balloon the ball over the bar from two yards. Horan and Marlon Roberts kept the Radar defence on their toes with Jason Griffiths and Tim Clare both playing well and Radar took the lead in the 70th minute.

The industrious Andy Richardson, who battled well throughout, won the ball on the edge of the area and crossed for Mark Taylor to score with a nice glancing header into the corner of the net.

Crown hit back with just ten minutes left when Broughton's through ball fell to Horan who nudged the ball past Henney, the referee ignoring some vociferous offside appeals.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Radar are at home to Droitwich Spa, players to meet 1.45pm at Lower Howsell Playing Fields.

The Sunday side's fixture was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

This Sunday they are at home to Ivy Cottage in the Infirmary Cup, meeting at 9.45am at Victoria Park.
