HIS grandfathers' experiences at the Ypres Salient in 1917 provided the inspiration for Robb Johnson's suite of songs, originally written for 1997's Passendale Peace Concert.
Remembrance Sunday (November 12) is an apt time to stage Gentle Men - A Family History of World War I and that is what Worcester's Huntingdon Hall is doing.
Mr Johnson used official histories, original research and family memories in the work, which was subsequently recorded on CD.
He is the main singer for the show and also plays the guitar and banjo, being joined by Russell Churney on keyboard, Sara Daniels, vocals and anglo-concertina, Bob Plews, vocals and guitar, and Saskia Tomkins, violin, viola and cello.
It starts at 8pm and tickets are £8.50 (£7 concs) from 01905 611427.
