WORCESTER Nomads' Cricket Club were able to hold their recent Senior Presentation Evening in the pavilion following an extensive restoration carried out last winter.
Such was the enthusiasm for an outstanding season just past, that the building was crammed to capacity in order to take part in a topical quiz conducted by David Pearson and enjoy an excellent buffet prepared by the Social Secretary, Margaret Dixon and her several helpers.
The 1st XI Batting Cup went to Malcolm Jones who had scored over 1,200 runs including a century and two 90's, while the 1st XI Bowling was won by Club Captain Ian Jinks with 81 wickets at an average of a little over 11 apiece. Both Malcolm and Ian doubled the totals of their nearest team mate.
David Pearson, scoring over 1,000 runs for the Club, headed the 2nd XI Batting and Kieran Rees the Bowling with 20 wickets. Jon Dimond and Nigel Rees won the 3rd XI trophies.
The members were given a summary of the season by the Treasurer, Chris Marsh, who stated that the three senior teams had played a total of 114 matches during the season and 35 of these had been won. Particularly pleasing was the position of the 1st XI which had gained promotion in the Worcestershire Club's League.
The Youth Section Presentation Evening has yet to be arranged, but the next important event will be the 75th Annual General Meeting of the Club on Friday, December 1.
