Campden Ladies 4, Bidford 3

UNDER difficult conditions, the game could have gone either way but it was Sarah Bragg who clipped the ball from a shot from Angharad Morgan to steal the opener for Campden.

Soon after, Sally Holmes caught the ball sweetly to put Campden in a more comfortable position but Bidford were battling on and caught the defence out to halve the arrears.

The second half saw Kate Henderson's positioning pay off from a well-worked attack to make it 3-1 but piled on the pressure and Juliet Smith's keeping skills and a save off the line from defender Claire Hurdiss kept the score down.

However, when a Bidford attacker shot from the edge of the D, the rising ball caught the head of Faye Marchant to again trim the margin to just one goal.

Bragg, though, netted her second and Campden's fourth before an excellent strike from a Bidford midfielder ended the scoring in a hard fought contest.

Worcester Norton III 0,

Evesham Ladies 1

A 15-STRONG Evesham squad was victorious again in their fifth league outing in Worcester.

The visitors were on the defensive from the pushback but their defence stood firm and gradually Evesham began to make inroads into the home defence.

Evesham continued to resist the Norton attack and then fund a weakness down the left flank which they exploited when Vanessa Dufty scored following a penalty corner.

Evesham worked hard after the break but failed to add to their tally but managed to keep out their opponents. A spectacular save from player of the match Charmaine Mitchell ten minutes from time ensured a clean sheet and another win.

Blockley Ladies 3, East Glos III 0

EVESHAM'S Astroturf surface was the venue for Saturday's league match when Blockley went straight onto the attack.

There was good movement from the attackers and several goal attempts but Natasha Day, playing sweeper for the Gloucestershire side, was in fine form and kept out the Blockley forwards.

However, Kerry Cassey finally found the target to break the deadlock and her second and one from Jo Peachey secured a fine win for the Cotswolds side.

Blockley are on their travels twice this weekend. They visit Hereford on Saturday and Westfields the following day.
